The home of the popular Ötztaler Cycle Marathon enchants sports enthusiasts with spectacular winding roads, gradients from gentle to extreme and legendary switchbacks on high alpine routes. One of them is the panoramic glacier road with a gradient of up to 15% on 13.5 kilometers. Another famous route leads over Timmelsjoch pass at 2,474 meters above sea level: Timmelsjoch is one of the highest passable roads in the Eastern Alps. Only one more can be found at approx. 2,850 meters - the highest road up to the Rettenbach glacier. From Sölden, the 28-kilometer long route leads through picture-book Ötztal up to the pass and back again. Away from the well-known routes, there are also a large number of less demanding and low-traffic roads spread all over Ötztal for hobby road cyclists.
