High alpine Ötztal with its impressive network of 1600 kilometers of hiking trails and countless climbing areas offers a really unique playground for walkers, hikers, mountaineers and climbers in a world full of deep side valleys, lush alpine pastures and steep summit flanks. Start your hike right outside the gates of your Sporthotel Alpina in Sölden or at the mountain gondola top stations of Giggijoch and Gaislachkogll. There you will find, among other scenic trails, a panoramic hike from Gaislachkogl Gondola via scenic lake Gaislacher See and Heidealm to the middle station. Skilled mountain fans will find their master with the BIG 3 Rally: this loop hike takes you to the peaks of 3 three thousand meter summits: Gaislachkogl, Tiefenbachkogl and Schwarze Schneid.
The mountains can also be quite different: action-packed river rafting and canyoning are two of the most popular activities in Ötztal, where you will get to know the untamed side of the Ötztal Alps. During river rafting tours on Ötztaler Ache or Sanna, you experience the indomitable power of water up close as you let yourself be carried away by the currents of the river. When canyoning, you climb, jump and rope your way through deep gorges and rushing waterfalls. With more than 35 outdoor and indoor adventures, the outdoor playground of AREA 47 is one of the largest adventure parks in Austria – boasting fast-paced water slides, high ropes course, climbing tower, wakeboarding and bungee jumping.
Covering an area of over 510 km², the scenic Ötztal Nature Park is the third largest nature park in Austria and home to a huge proportion of our alpine glacier areas. This unique, protected landscape combines imposing glaciers, larch forests and idyllic mountain lakes. The nature park is a partner of our sports hotel in Sölden: therefore we offer a variety of guided tours, ranging from themed hikes, which take place up to 18 times a week, to individual events on currently important nature topics. Explore the unique alpine fauna and flora, watch whistling marmots in their natural habitat and learn more about the fascinating glacier landscape of the Ötztal Alps during your holiday in Sölden.
